Our romantic half-timbered house is located in the textile village of Großschönau in the Zittau Mountains Nature Park—in the beautiful Upper Lusatia region. It sits directly in the floodplain of the wild and romantic Mandau River and in the tri-border area of Saxony, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Großschönau is one of the most beautiful villages in Upper Lusatia and serves as the gateway to the Zittau Mountains. With its extensive collection of historic half-timbered houses, our small community is a unique open-air museum. There are stunning houses and an extraordinary landscape to discover everywhere you look.
Our 4-star vacation home is located right on the Mandau, a small river whose murmuring waters are balm for the soul. From the house, you can embark on countless walks and hikes, such as along the Mandau; many trails are flat and therefore suitable for people and pets of all ages. Just a few meters from the house, you can get fresh rolls and bread daily from Tuesday through Saturday at the Kneißner butcher shop. The Zur Aue restaurant is located right next to the butcher shop and also offers hot meals to go, which you can enjoy at the vacation home. The Sissi vacation home was built in 1790 as a classic half-timbered house. The living room is now located in the former weaving room (Blockstube).
Sissi Vacation Home:
All bedrooms are located in the attic and are accessible via a steep but comfortable staircase. The house underwent extensive renovations following the 2010 floods and was completely renovated and modernized again from June 2020 to July 2021. In 2020, the bathroom was remodeled and an indoor whirlpool was added. Please note that the ceiling height throughout the house is 2.00 m!!! The Sissi House is powered entirely by green electricity and is available for rent year-round. We also installed a completely new electric heating system in 2020.
Both bedrooms and the living room have their own TV with a DVD player; the living room also features a VCR and a wide selection of interesting DVDs and VHS tapes. The ideal occupancy is 4–5 people; an additional sleeping option is available in the living room.
Dogs are welcome. The property is very small, as is traditional for historic half-timbered houses. The rear area of the house is completely fenced in and paved, measuring approximately 45 m². Our guests also have access to an outdoor hot tub for 2–3 people and an outdoor barrel sauna.
Inside the house, there is an infrared sauna (heating cabin up to 65°C, interior dimensions: 1.20 x 1.00 m) and a 1–2-person whirlpool in the bathroom.
